About 713 Business Works

Built by someone who’s lived the same struggles you’re facing now.

Owner in a workshop setting

From 22-year-old owner to running a $6M operation

I started my first business at 22. I didn’t go to business school or come from a corporate background — but I wasn’t completely on my own either.

My father was a hard-working small business owner himself. He didn’t sit me down and teach me finance or systems, because he never had those tools. He came from a time when you got through on grit, long hours, and figuring things out as you went.

I watched him work. I watched him push through without the support and information that small business owners need today. I learned a lot from that — what to do, and what not to do.

Hard lessons, expensive lessons, real lessons.

Over more than 30 years of owning and operating businesses, including building and eventually selling a multi-location, $6M-per-year operation, I had to learn:

  • How to handle cash flow and payroll pressure.
  • How to read income statements and balance sheets.
  • How to manage inventory and floorplans.
  • How to hire, train, and manage staff.
  • How to build systems instead of fighting fires.

The problem most owners face: you don’t know what you don’t know.

Most small business owners are flat out. They don’t have the time to figure out bookkeeping, reporting, systems, and structure on their own. And every hour spent trying to decode that is an hour not spent running the work that actually pays the bills.

What I wish I had when I was growing my companies was someone I could talk to — to explain the numbers, help solve problems, and break things down simply, without crazy consulting fees.

That’s why 713 Business Works exists.

713 Business Works is here to be that support for blue-collar owners and small equipment businesses:

  • Financial clarity in plain language.
  • Simple, practical SOPs and systems.
  • Basic marketing that actually gets done.

No fluff. No corporate speak. Just real-world solutions from someone who has signed the front of the cheques and lived through the same pressure you feel now.

My consulting style

  • Friendly but honest — I’ll tell you what you need to hear.
  • Practical and hands-on — focused on what you can actually implement.
  • Straight shooter — no fluff, no buzzwords, no wasted time.
